THE WATCHLIST
On the radar
How the watch score works
These matchups and tip-off times are illustrative, not a live schedule. Scores use the teams’ overall composite positions among these 286 teams.
The 0–10 score combines 70% team quality and 30% matchup balance. Quality = 10 × (1 − ((average subset rank − 1) ÷ 285)²). Balance = 10 × (1 − rank difference ÷ 285). This measures watchability, not winning probability or tournament qualification.
EVERY TEAM. EVERY INPUT.
The composite
All 286 teams have KenPom, Torvik, and ESPN BPI national ranks. The overall composite weights each source equally. These are November 2 snapshots; automatic refresh is not connected.
| Overall composite rank | Team | Conference | KenPom national rank | Torvik national rank | ESPN BPI national rank | 3-source average |
|---|
How the overall composite works
Composite average = (KenPom national rank + Torvik national rank + ESPN BPI national rank) ÷ 3. Each source has equal weight. The lowest average earns the #1 composite position among these 286 teams. Tied averages share a position. Filters never recalculate the overall ranks.
All three sources are complete for this snapshot. KenPom was retrieved on November 2, 2026; Torvik and ESPN BPI were imported from the owner’s pasted tables that day. BPI uses the BPI RK column, not the BPI rating or strength-of-schedule rank. Missing source data will prevent publication of an incomplete overall ranking.

Included conferences and current memberships
For this site, mid-major means every Division I men's basketball program outside the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and Big East. The rebuilt Pac-12 is included. This is the site's coverage definition, not an official NCAA classification.
The field contains 286 teams in 27 conferences, using the 2026–27 memberships in the November 2 rankings snapshot. Gonzaga, Utah State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Oregon State, Washington State, and Texas State are included in the Pac-12.

An unexpected conference tournament winner can take an extra spot when an at-large contender from that league still gets in.

Where the percentages will come from
No probabilities are invented from a team's ranking or win–loss record. This section needs a licensed projection source or a tested selection and conference-tournament model. Every estimate should show its source and update time.
Betting odds for making the tournament can provide a market-implied probability, but championship odds cannot substitute for that market. Market probabilities need the bookmaker margin removed when both sides are available. Tournament qualification and at-large selection are different outcomes.
